REST-Assured, a journey into API hacking

Thursday 16th February 6:30pm at The Manchester Digital Laboratory (MadLab)

API access is an important part of building any internet application today, from cat meme generation to processing card payments – the possibilities are endless! In this hands-on session, we're going to look at working with APIs in Ruby using a fake bank API that talks JSON.

For those new to working with APIs, we will go through the basics using Ruby. For those that want to explore more, we will play a little game where we try and hack our fictional bank. Mixing our newly acquired API skills, some healthy competition, and a little creative thinking, we will see if we can get filthy (fake) rich by hacking a (fake) bank!

Taking part

Don't worry if you can't bring a laptop or are new to Ruby as there will be opportunities to pair program or simply observe the session. If you do have a laptop, bring it along and make sure you have Ruby installed.
