20 Things I Wish I Knew about being a Developer 20 Years Ago

Thursday 17th November 6:30pm at The Manchester Digital Laboratory (MadLab)

Ever wish you could go back in time to a younger you and pass on some nuggets of wisdom? Me neither, but if I did then this talk is what it might sound like.

During this talk I'll be exploring some of the things I've learnt over the past 20 years as a professional developer. Is building software a craft or a science (or something else)? What is the purposes of the code we write? Do we even need databases? What should I do if my boss doesn't value good software practices?

With some trusty memes to guide us, we'll take a look at what history has through us. It's like the retrospective at the end of a twenty-year sprint.

About the speaker

The location
